... a movie from the year you turned 10 years old. Watch it. Revel in the tunes, bad haircuts and acid-washed jeans--or, bell bottoms for our more mature set. Come back to share your review.
Just Google your 10th birthday year and "movies" for ideas. Then, get to the video store fast if you want to beat me to "The Goonies."

I "have" Goonies! Want to rent it!?? As a kid, I loved that one, so I bought it and boy is it not rated appropriatley. I can't let my kids watch it. It has a lot of swear words in it. Just plug your ears. Man- You're old if you were 10 when the Goonies came out! (ha!)
ReplyDeleteWow, those are some old movies Jenn.
ReplyDeleteDoes it count that I watched the last 1/4 of "E.T." on TV last night? Totally brought back memories of seeing it as a family, then welcoming little baby sister Kim into the world the very next morning.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your blog idea, Jenn! I'll try to be better at commenting.
Cool! I vote for The Goonies!
ReplyDeleteK, I'm confused about E.T. My google search has it at the top of the Most Popular movies for 1982. Plus, Kim's exactly ten years younger than me, so she was born in '82.
ReplyDeleteI'm sticking with it. :-P
Good post Jenn. We HAVE The Goonies. Hope you didn't rent it. "Goonies 'R' Good Enough", or so the song goes. Great, great movie.
ReplyDeleteMy 10-year movie is Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. A CLASSIC! I used to think that Luke was such a whiner, but after watching it again, I really understand where he is coming from. Uncle Owen is being unreasonable. True, Luke learned the essentials of droid repair on Tatooine, but he knew hew was destined for greater things ... (cue Star Wars theme). I have three boys, what can I say?
ReplyDeleteOk then, well then...as you knowingly know....there were NO movies to rent when I was 10. Is this blog age discriminatory? I mean REALLY....how RUDE!! Still I love you.
ReplyDeleteLael, my favorite Luke quote: "But I was going into Tosche Station to pick up some power converters!" in pitch-perfect whiny voice. We rented The Karate Kid: I didn't remember Ralph Macchio looking so puny. I also forgot all about the shower costume at the Halloween party. Classic. Another special treat: my hubby remembered writing something about the movie in his journal from 1984--my son and I looked it up: a drawing of two guys in a karate ring with "A kick!" and "A punch!" listed above their heads. Sweet.
ReplyDeleteOfficially, I still need to watch something from 1985--gonna rent Teen Wolf.
P.S. Finally rented Teen Wolf. My advise to you: Don't. Inane party scenes, creepy effects -- the 80s music wasn't even cool, just some generic "after-school special" tunes.
